Set dressing on kats projectSo I helped kat dress her set briefly. I don't know if this is really big enough to make its own post about. But anyway. She made the books and the toys. I helped her a little with the furniture, but not much. I was mostly there to give input on where I thought things should go so that they fitted the character and narrative.
She originally wanted everything in the child's bedroom to be neat. But it's a child's bedroom. It's going to be messy. I put the toys on the floor and made the books crooked as though a child had been reading them but hadn't put them away properly. Same with the toys. This is relevant to my practise of i want to go into background design i need to know how backgrounds can inform the narrative. What Went Well?
- I used the stuff i had learnt from professionals, during pp to inform my decisions
- i liked how the set turned out overall
What Could Be Improved?
- The tree could have really been closer up against the wall especially the branches. They don't look strong enough to hold the weight of those books
- We had problems getting the walls to line up properly and stay in place. In the end we ended up using half a roll of masking tape to hold everything together.
